Firstly, I will apologise for the photo of my stained and rough copy of this book!
I first heard of this book during my training, when in a personal development session, a colleague of mine brought this book and the topic of trauma into a group discussion.
I brought this book shortly after, yet it has sat on my shelf for a long time.
I picked it it up a few weeks ago and has taken me a while to read it (hence the cup stains).
Thai book is an extensive look at trauma and the affects it has on the body/brain.
I found this book was not an easy read for myself. Although the topic and applications of the work described were of much interest, the style of the chapters felt like reading in mud.
This book oil was very much worth the perseverance as the later chapters focusing on the therapeutic side of working from the bottom up (working with the body before the brain) was very interesting.
Although this book is a hard read, I would recommend it to fellow counsellors and people working with clients/patients whom have experienced trauma. I wouldn’t recommend this book for clients as it is very scientific, and goes into depth about neurology/ studies. There are a few client examples in this books chapters, however it focuses more on the clinical application of what is proven to work with trauma.
