Counselling

Face to face, Outdoor & Online sessions are available

What is on offer

I provide a caring, supportive, and non-judgemental environment to help you find a way through any difficulties you may be facing. What is on offer is Pluralistic style counselling. As a counsellor I offer you my honesty and respect while we explore issues you feel you would like to bring to counselling. This means you are empowered to discover solutions to issues in a supportive environment. My core approach is Person-Centred, meaning you are free to bring whatever you wish to counselling. I will not give you advice/tell you what to talk about, however we will work together to find your own answers. If appropriate, I may introduce you to different styles of interventions I can offer e.g. CBT.  These may assist in finding understanding or solutions at time where you are feeling stuck/lost in what to talk about or do. You are always free to choose whether it is something you would like to try or not. It is very important in my style of counselling to tailor your sessions to your individual needs through a collaborative relationship.

Sessions

Each session duration is an hour, unless agreed otherwise. How many sessions you have are completely up to you and you may discontinue at any point you feel comfortable. It is good practice to have a review in every 6th session to appraise how our work has been together. The review should take no longer then 20 minutes within your session. It is also important when ending our work together to have a ‘closing’ session. Endings are important to not only work towards but to discuss your process and to review your goals.

Confidentiality

Our sessions are held in the strictest confidence, however there are limits to this confidentially in certain cases. Confidentiality may be broken if required to do so by law. Examples of these are: You or others are at serious risk of being harmed. The therapist is required to do so by subpoena by police/ court of law. The client infers involvement in or knowledge of an acts such as terrorism, money laundering, drugs trafficking or the neglect of children/vulnerable adults.

Outdoor sessions or also known as Walk & Talk therapy

Walk & talk counselling takes therapy out of the confines of the therapy room and into the real world. This can take place almost anywhere we choose, and privacy can be maintained by just keeping a distance from others. A change in environment can often stimulate a process that may not usually happen in the therapy room. We will first meet for a free initial session to discuss your suitability. We will discuss the route and you will be asked to sign a specific walk & talk contract and risk assessment. Any questions please feel free to email me.

01.

This free half an hour assessment is used to find out whether we both are comfortable working with one another. We will go over our working agreement, the reasons for coming to counselling, and go over some background history. You may also choose to undertake an evaluation of where you are now (tick box assessment), which can be used to track your progress in therapy over the length of your journey.

02.

Each session is one hour in length. in this session you are free to bring anything you want to discuss and dive into. Being non-directive, I will sit along side wherever you wish to take us.  As a counsellor I offer you my honesty and respect while we explore issues you feel you would like to bring to counselling. I will not give you advice, however we can work together to find your own answers. This means you are empowered to discover solutions to issues in a supportive environment.
