Book Review: Relate - Better Relationships by Sarah Litvinoff

Updated: Mar 21, 2022

This book is part book is part of the range of titles from Relate. This book focuses on how to improve your existing relationship.

The book consists of:

Communication

Children

Affairs

Death in the family

Moving

Sex

Retirement

Unemployment

etc

Within in each chapter are tasks to do, alone of with your partner, to help reflect on areas of your relationship and how to improve communication between you both.

Whilst reading this book after other books in the series (e.g Before you say ‘I do’ - see Book Review) I have noticed that they are wrote quite similar, it felt like in some chapters I had read it before word for word. However, there are some completely original chapters.

The chapter which stood out for me as being very informative was on sex. It is very informative about sexual problems either partner may face. This information is great to have as a starting point for going and looking in more detail if you or your partner experiences any of these symptoms. I would recommend if you or you partner are experiencing this, that you should seek medical advice from your GP or a specialist.

I would recommend this book for clients whom want to find ways to improve their relationships with their partners. The reason I have not given this book the 5/5 is that it reads very dated. My opinion is the whole Relate series should have revised editions to keep up to date with modern relationships.

4/5
