This Relate book focuses on the big questions you should ask yourself about your relationship before getting married.
The book has 10 chapters which focuses on the different areas of marriage. From the expectations of what marriage means/ looks like, to conflict resolution.
This is book has many real life examples of couples, which links to each of the chapters. These case studies are very useful as a look into how these different areas of marriage and commitment may be overlooked. This therefore points out of these were looked at before the wedding, these could be looked/ worked at beforehand. There are plenty of questionarries to complete with and without your partner to help reflect on your future and priorities.
Other areas the book covers are:
Expectations of marriage
Communication
Keeping your sex life thriving
Conflict resolution
Money
Parenting
Family/friends
Prioritising time with your partner
This book is a short read. I would recommend this book to clients whom are in a long term relationship and are about to make a commitment to their partner. These questions which the book raises are not only a great reflection before marriage but before committing to parenting a child, buying a house etc.
